When Change Feels Harder Than You Expected

Life transitions are often supposed to be exciting. A new job, becoming a parent, ending a relationship, moving to a new city, graduating, retiring, or facing a health change can all mark important milestones. But even positive change can feel destabilizing.

You might feel anxious, overwhelmed, sad, disconnected, or unsure of who you are in this new chapter. You may notice old coping patterns resurfacing or feel stuck between what was and what comes next.

At Creative Continuum Therapy, life transitions therapy offers a space to process change, clarify what matters most to you, and build emotional resilience for what lies ahead.

Common Life Transitions We Support

  • Career changes, burnout, or retirement

  • Starting or ending a relationship

  • Becoming a parent or navigating an empty nest

  • Moving, relocation, or cultural shifts

  • Grief, loss, or health-related changes

  • Identity shifts, personal growth, or life reevaluation

Life transitions can stir up emotions, memories, and fears that deserve attention, not judgment.

  • Life transitions therapy helps people navigate emotional, relational, and identity shifts that occur during major life changes. It supports you in processing emotions, understanding internal conflicts, and adjusting to new roles or circumstances.

It is helpful for transitions that feel positive, painful, confusing, or all of the above.

  • You may benefit from therapy if a transition is causing anxiety, sadness, overwhelm, conflict, or a sense of being lost or stuck. Therapy can be helpful even if things seem manageable but you want support, clarity, or growth during a meaningful change.

You do not need to be in crisis to seek support.

  • Creative Continuum is a private pay-only practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. Our hourly rate may range from $175-225 and we are happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network clients, which you can submit for potential reimbursement from your insurance provider. We recommend contacting your insurance company to learn more about your out-of-network benefits and coverage for therapy services. If you have any questions about the reimbursement process or need guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you and work with you to make therapy as accessible and affordable as possible. Additionally, we have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services.

  • The length of therapy varies based on the complexity of the transition and your goals. Some people find clarity and relief in a few months. Others choose to stay longer to explore deeper patterns or ongoing growth.

Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine a pace and timeline that feels right.
