Therapy for Teens in Phoenix That Builds Confidence and Connection
Helping teens feel seen, understood, and empowered through creativity and connection
When Teens Struggle, Parents Feel It Too
Your teen is bright, capable, and full of potential—but lately, something feels “off.” Maybe they’re withdrawing from friends, spending more time alone, or showing frustration that seems bigger than the situation. You’ve tried talking, setting boundaries, and offering advice, but it feels like nothing is getting through.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, about 1 in 3 teens experiences an anxiety disorder by age 18. And while adolescence is always a time of change, it can be hard to know when your teen needs extra support. At Creative Continuum, we understand how overwhelming this stage can feel—and we’re here to help.
Why Teens Choose Therapy
Teen therapy isn’t about “fixing” them. It’s about creating a safe, judgment-free space where they can process emotions, build coping skills, and discover who they are becoming. For many teens, traditional talk therapy can feel intimidating or forced. That’s why we bring creativity and collaboration into the process—because sometimes it’s easier to express through art, movement, or storytelling than through conversation alone.
When teens have a space where they feel respected and understood, they begin to open up, gain perspective, and develop tools they’ll carry into adulthood.
For teens, creative expression opens the door to connection, self-discovery, and being heard in ways that talk therapy alone can’t always provide.
Maybe you’ve thought: “They’ll grow out of it,” or “This is just teenage stuff.” But deep down, you know your teen deserves support now—not later. Adolescence is a crucial time for building identity, confidence, and healthy relationships. With the right guidance, teens can not only survive these years but thrive through them.
Even if you’re unsure whether therapy is “necessary,” these are common reasons families come to Creative Continuum:
Frequent anxiety, worry, or overthinking
Withdrawal from family, friends, or activities they once enjoyed
Irritability, mood swings, or emotional outbursts
Difficulty concentrating or staying motivated at school
Negative self-talk or low self-esteem
Stress from peer pressure, identity exploration, or big transitions
You Don’t Have to Keep Living This Way
Our Approach: Creative, Evidence-Based, and Teen-Centered
At Creative Continuum, we meet your teen where they are—with empathy, curiosity, and respect. Our teen therapy approach blends evidence-based practices with creative modalities like art therapy, giving them safe and natural outlets to explore their inner world. Whether it’s painting, journaling, or collaborative projects, these tools help teens find their voice and build confidence.
Parents and caregivers are also part of the process. We’ll support you in understanding your teen’s unique needs, fostering healthier communication, and creating routines that strengthen trust.
For teens who struggle to “talk it out,” creativity provides a powerful bridge. Through self-expression, teens can:
Process overwhelming emotions in safe ways
Explore identity and build self-awareness
Develop resilience and problem-solving skills
Strengthen communication with family and peers
Find joy and confidence in their own growth
Insurance and Payment Information
Creative Continuum is a private-pay practice, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. Payment is due at the time of your session so we can keep your care simple, flexible, and focused on you, not insurance rules.
-
Private pay means you work directly with us for services instead of billing insurance first.
This allows us to tailor sessions to your goals, pace, and learning style. That may include art therapy, parent support, emotional regulation work, or deeper relational care. Private pay also means fewer barriers, more transparency, and more room for creativity in how therapy looks and feels.
We also support out-of-network benefits. Many insurance plans still want you to see the provider you choose, which often includes deductibles and partial reimbursements for out-of-network care.
-
Yes, many clients do.
If your insurance includes out-of-network coverage, we can provide a superbill after each session. A superbill is a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Your insurer then decides what portion they return to you based on your plan and deductible. We also partner with Mentaya to help clients estimate and use their out-of-network benefits more easily.
We are also working toward being able to bill out-of-network benefits directly for clients to make the process even simpler.
-
Yes. Creative Continuum is an ESA vendor in Arizona.
Families using Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) funding may be able to apply funds toward therapy services. If you are using ESA, we can talk through how it works, what paperwork is needed, and how to get started.
We also help families determine eligibility, apply for benefits, and establish funding when possible so the process feels less overwhelming.
-
Insurance often comes with a lot of restrictions. They may require specific diagnoses, limit how often you can come, and control how long sessions can be. Most plans only allow 45 to 50 minute sessions, even when a full 60 minutes would better support your nervous system, processing, and care. Insurance companies also ask for personal details that do not always align with creative, relational, and neurodivergent affirming therapy.
By staying independent, we protect your privacy and keep therapy personalized. Your sessions follow your needs and goals instead of an insurance company’s checklist.
-
We believe in being clear without making things complicated.
Our typical session fees range from $175 to $225, depending on the provider and type of service. We are always happy to walk you through pricing during your consultation so there are no surprises.
Beginning in May, we will also offer lower cost sessions with our intern Joy at $100 per session, creating more accessible options for families and individuals seeking care.
-
We offer a limited number of sliding scale spots when availability allows. These are reserved for families with financial need and are not guaranteed.
At the same time, we truly want clients to receive the services that fit them best. We are always open to exploring financial flexibility, payment plans, or realistic options when cost feels stressful. You are welcome to ask about availability during your consultation so we can talk through what may work.
